UCAS Points For RGT Exams

Lizzie Moore, Qualifications Officer for LCM explains how students are awarded UCAS points for attaining advanced level RGT/LCM qualifications.

UCAS tariff points are awarded to students attaining LCM Advanced Level music qualifications (grades 6, 7 and 8) in both practical and theory subjects.

For Higher Education music courses, practical music grades have always been an important factor in the application process. With the introduction of these qualifications to the UCAS tariff, the values of music education are recognised across all subject areas. Admissions staff often look favourably on students with practical music exam qualifications, as they indicate motivation, self-discipline and organisational skills.

Due to the huge scope of available qualifications now on offer in the UK, UCAS have recently revised their tariff across all credit-worthy qualifications.

The tariff points below are to be used when submitting applications for the 2017 admissions cycle and onwards (i.e. these points will be relevant for candidates applying to university in 2016 for full-time courses starting in 2017).

UCAS points give the qualifications enormous ‘added value’ and make LCME/RGT examinations even more worthwhile for students who are considering progressing to higher education.
